Rising Masculine: Restoring Rites of Passage

“The time for the lone wolf is over.  Gather yourselves! Banish the word struggle from you attitude and your vocabulary.  All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

    – Unnamed Hopi Elder: Hopi Nation – Oraibi, Arizona

For as long as there has been people there has been rites of passage. Often these sacred moments mark the transition from one phase of life to another. While many of us consider rites of passage to be associated with the transition into puberty, or the initiation into parenthood, it can also represent transitions and transformation that occur at any point in ones life.

Women today still hold on to many of their rites of passage. With menstruation and childbirth, their initiations are so tangible and physical in nature that they have stood the test of time. As women have the opportunity to transition with each phase of the moon and connect with something deeper, men are often left disconnected from their natural transitions. In our modern day western culture many of our masculine rites of passage have been stripped away.

Now more than ever men must make an effort to reconnect with their primal nature, embody their masculine archetypes, and steward their own rites of passage ceremonies. While the experience of transition and transformation that happens is personal, we must also remember the importance of brotherhood. The tribal nature of holding space for one another through our challenges, and holding each other accountable to our growth, is an essential aspect of rites of passage.

But where can we find this in our world today?

Beyond the struggling attempt to fulfill this deep need with superbowl parties and gym buddies, it’s hard to find experiences that illicit authentic connection with men’s primal nature. Men of course are not to be blamed, it wasn’t taught to us. For the most part, Men’s rites of passage is an age-old tradition that has been buried and forgotten.

    But not anymore…

Sacred Sons is a growing tribe of men that is bringing healthy masculinity, and rites of passage back into the cultural narrative. They are co-stewarding the return of the father archetype to this planet through mens gatherings, circles, and trainings. Their next online course, “The Embodied Masculine,”  begins January 27th. It is a 3-month journey of awakening men and initiating them into a healthy expression of masculinity. This online course is full of transformational tools, community and wisdom to connect men with their fullest potential.

Drawing upon ancient wisdom and modern technologies of human development, Sacred Sons utilizes the power of ceremony, ritual, and intentional spaces to deepen into authentic brotherhood and catalyze growth in men. Through time tested frameworks and psychological processes they guide men to their emotional and spiritual edges so that every man who shows up and does the inner work will one day feel the full depth and breadth of their emotions, find and honor their purpose in life, and commit to embodying their truth.

“This is a call to remembrance, for every brother who is hungry for life and unwilling to settle for less than becoming the fullness of who they are.”
